What we say, whether good or bad is a reflection of what is in our hearts. This is why it’s so important to give the Holy Spirit access to the parts of our hearts that hold the deepest hurt. ⁣ ⁣ Strength is not found in being brutally honest even if it means hurting someone else. Strength is found in repaying evil with good and being mindful of the words we speak, even when others hurt us.⁣ ⁣ I asked the Lord to search my heart often to make sure that no unresolved offense remains. God judges the heart and He knows so if He shows me anything, I let Him heal me in that area. I want to please God and I want the words I speak to encourage and not discourage. ⁣ ⁣ What’s in your heart? If it’s unresolved pain and unforgiveness, surrender it to God so that He can heal you. Restoration of relationships is only made possible when both people are willing. Are you willing?
So, I talked a Bible Study just last week about Psalm 46 and we went over what being still looks like. For me, it’s surrendering what I cannot control and leaving it in God’s hands through prayer. Sometimes it means weeping, other times it’s sitting in His presence or listening to worship (simply to name a few).⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ After learning about a situation involving a sister in Christ I hold dear, my spirit has been so grieved. I hear the Holy Spirit reminding me “Be Still”. So I’m doing just that today. I’m standing on this verse today. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Maybe you’re not carrying the weight of someone else’s burdens today but your own. Get alone with God and sit in His presence to simply “Be Still”. He is so faithful. He will replace anxiety with peace. Trust Him with the unknown. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m doing that today for my friend because I know what God has for their lives.
♥️
“Then the mob joined in the attack against them, and the chief magistrates stripped off their clothes and ordered them to be beaten with rods. After they had inflicted many blows on them, they threw them in jail, ordering the jailer to keep them securely guarded. Receiving such an order, he put them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the jail were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains came loose.” Acts‬ ‭16:22-26‬ ⁣ Praise the Lord even when it’s hard to. Don’t let the enemy steal what he did not give you. The ability to praise God. ⁣ ⁣ 📷: @hertrueworth⁣ ⁣ #praiseHimevenwhenithurts
My sister in Christ shared these words at a Holiday Luncheon over the weekend and had I heard these words years ago I wouldn’t have understood because for so many years I tried to fit in where I didn’t belong. God kept removing me from different groups and from around many people and now I understand why. My table is so very different from the one I tried to sit at. My table won’t have as many people but it will have those who know how to fight through prayer. People who will build me up and not talk about me when I’m not around and vice versa. Women that will lift my arms when I need it and for which I will do the same when they’re in need. Women who are meek, patient, kind but bold, fierce and fearless. Warriors. Truth speakers. Peace makers and servants of God and of others before anything else. Women who love those others reject and sit to eat with those who others don’t want to sit with. Why? Because we’ve all been there and through the process God has strengthened us and prepared us for what’s ahead. Warfare is evident but victory awaits. I see God building my table and I know the best is yet to come! ⁣ ⁣ Thank you, Sis ( @msmelaniereyes ) for those words that resonate so true for me today!
“While they were traveling, He entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”⁣” Luke 10:38-42⁣ ⁣⁣ Mary and Martha were both servants of Jesus but Martha was so distracted with serving that she didn’t take the time to sit at the feet of Jesus, resulting in her becoming worried and upset. On the other hand, Mary sat at His feet and listened to what He had to say. Both acts were good and pleasing to the Lord but one was better than the other in that moment and Jesus told Martha that by Mary choosing to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to Him, was the better of the two. Both acts were good, but Martha’s acts would die when she did while Mary’s acts were not only spiritual but also eternal. ⁣ ⁣ May we never get so busy in serving the Lord through works that we don’t take the necessary time to simply sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to what He has to say to us. It’s about balance, something I’m learning now that I’m in ministry. May I never be so busy “doing” for the Lord that I don’t take the time my soul needs “being” in the presence of the Lord to hear Him speak. I cannot give others what I do not have. I cannot pour out to fill others if I’m running on empty. Let’s be intentional about not only “doing” what is pleasing to the Lord but “being” with Him so that He may speak to our hearts. In His presence we are refreshed and renewed.
