Psalm 147:3

“He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.” Psalms‬ ‭147:3‬

There are no words to describe the evil taking place all over the world. It’s alarming and overwhelming but not surprising. Each person that died last night and today in Las Vegas left behind someone they love and they were loved by someone. It’s saddening that families and friends can no longer gather safely together at events without considering the possibility of losing their lives by a crazed gunman, a suicide bomber, a knife attack, etc.

I’m at a loss for words. While I know I cannot adequately share words that will provide solace for this heinous act of evil, I love that God’s word can bring comfort and peace when we need it most. Psalm 147:3 tells us that the Lord heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds. When we put our broken hearts in the hands of the almighty God, He is sure to bring healing as we need it.

Psalm 34:18 also tells us that The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. What a beautiful promise. In those broken moments, He is nearest to us. He holds us. He comforts us.

Trust me when I say our hearts are best in His hands. God has taken this heart of mine on many occasions and healed it, bound up my wounds. He has made me whole. It wasn’t overnight but joy came in the morning. I smiled again, danced again, laughed again. All in time.

My prayer tonight is that in the midst of this devastation, God would be glorified and hearts would be turned to Jesus. Praying that the Lord would take the hearts of those suffering from what has happened and what is currently going on in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Texas and now Las Vegas, into His hands and administer healing the way only He can. May He make them knew, in His time. Truth be told, this should hurt each of us as a whole. As a nation. Not only those directly affected. If one hurts, we all hurt. This is our home.

This tragedy reminds me that tomorrow is not promised. So, love a little harder, forgive quickly, don’t hold grudges, kiss your children goodnight, make up with your spouse, tell your parents you love them. Make things right with Jesus because tomorrow may be too late.

I’m praying for the island where my heritage originates from; Puerto Rico. Praying for The Virgin Islands, praying for Mexico, praying for Las Vegas and praying for the nations around the world. This world needs Jesus. If He is your Savior, tell others about Him and pray.

If He is not, you can get to know Him tonight right where you are. A simple prayer from your heart to God’s. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10 “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

God bless you and remember, Jesus loves you.‭
