“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalms 46:10
It’s easy to be still when the ground under us is steady, firm, and unshaken; when everything seems to be going right. But how about when the storms of life rage? How about when our safety is compromised? How about when our future suddenly seems uncertain? Can we be still then? God tells us in His Word to be still in Him, even then.
To be still means to grow slack, to release, to let go. In order to be still, we have to let go of something(s). For some, maybe it’s anger/rage, or bitterness. Maybe it’s unforgiveness, jealousy/envy or even fear.
When we “let go” of whatever it is that doesn’t allow us to be still in God, we are set free from the obligation of entertaining that “thing” that steals our peace. When we let go of these things, we’re given peace. Peace knowing that no matter what, He is in control and He holds us in the palm of His hands.
Every situation is not out of His control. After all, He placed the stars in the sky. He’s got us. In Him we find refuge, in Him we find shelter; in Him we find peace that is not understood with the natural mind.
Now more than ever; for those in The Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Florida; God wants us to be still and KNOW that He is God. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. Be still and know that He is God. Even in this storm.
