“But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Have you ever prayed to the Lord for something very specific (direction, an open door, healing, a spouse, etc.) and you don’t get an answer when you believe you need it? Have you ever considered that maybe the answer is “wait”? I know I have.
Sometimes we just have to wait. Wait? Yes, wait on the Lord because He might be showing us something in the waiting. Maybe He’s working in us. Increasing our faith; molding our character; preparing us for the answered prayer because He knows that if He gives us what we ask for when we ask, we might not be ready to receive it.
God tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9 ““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” He knows what He is doing and why He does it. Our finite minds cannot comprehend what God is doing because His thoughts and ways are higher than ours.
Rest in that truth. God knows what He is doing and He is in complete control. Is He asking you to wait on Him? Wait on Him.
Trust me, I’m speaking from experience. God has been teaching me to walk by faith, live by faith and speak in faith that which I do not understand. As a result, my faith has increased because I can rest knowing that no matter what, He is in control.
But in order to live by faith and truly wait on the Lord, we have to live a life of surrender to His will; denying our own. Only then can we truly learn to wait on Him because by waiting on God, we’re showing we trust Him and His plan over our own. It isn’t easy but I’m here to tell you it is possible.
God also says that His Word shall not return to Him void for it shall accomplish that which He pleases and it shall prosper in the thing which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11).
So if God has spoken a word of provision, healing, etc. over your life then have faith that it will come to pass. Stay submitted to the Lord, wait on Him in faith and trust God’s Word will come to pass.
